It turns out that the Mystic FTP service accepts usernames as it is found in the Mystic records. When I substitute spaces with either _ or ., I couldn't login. I'll try SSH soon. :)

Synchronet works the same way. I use my "two word, no punctuation" user name to log onto the BBS FTP server, just like I would into a telnet or http session.
