It might just be a display error, but I'm seeing my last few new users have
the same ID in User Editor. I'm not aware of a way to fix it, if it's really
a problem.

Is anyone else seeing this in A31?

That does not sound good. They should have unique IDs.
Have you done anything to file permissions in your data dir?
You could try mbbsutil -fixindex ... but take a backup of things first.

Everything is owned by the BBS user (the account name happens to be my own), which is non-root. Should be all good.

I'll copy the entire BBS directory and try the utility you suggested.
