If I'm being an idiot, please let me know and show me what to
    do! :-)

Well, since I'm busy answering my own question here, I can go ahead and call myself an idiot without too much bother! :-/

A user is deleted by changing the "Deleted" property under the Flags section
to "yes", and save. The user record will then be shown as "DELETED". I'm not sure whether this will stay like that indefinitely, I will see whether my scheduled maintenance will get rid of that or a new user record will be
    created over it.

    Interesing! :-)

    Regards,
    Jan Henkins

Correct that's how you do it. And for now the record remains in the backend
as you see it. There used to be a switch you could invoke in mbbsutil that would remove it but g00r00 depreciated it.

For now, it will stay there as "deleted". That is, until g00r00 comes back
and works on the functionality of mutil. There was an option with mbbsutil to pack the user base in the past, but it has be removed.

There are a few test accounts that I have created on my BBS a few months ago and deleted shortly afterwards - they are still there showing a deleted
status. I don't know if there is another way to get rid of them beyond that.

By the way I have not found this anywhere else - how is the data for the bbs stored? Is that kept in a database or in a file format? I have been
thinking of ideas for interacting with the data outside of the bbs and
although I know there are ways to do that with python, mpl and the php
    library I was curious.

At this point, there is no way to get rid of them. This has been added to the list for g00r00 when he gets back.

As far as I know, all of the data for the BBS configuration is stored in .DAT files within the \mystic\data directory (or /mystic/data for the *nix
systems). I believe the user base is stored in a file called users.dat.

I'm actually trying to develop an MPL that will read one of the .DAT files.
It has been tricky (at least for someone who hasn't used pascal for almost 30 years). :)

This is what I like about being a sysop. We get to help others who are (re)starting their BBS. Being able to share experience with others gives a great feeling.

    Besides, it's patatoe. lol

Thanks for this! I have done a bit of research on Pascal file handling,
and found a few tutorials that looks promising.
