• Mystic 1.12 A31 running under windows 10 64 bit

From Gregory Deyss@21:1/127 to All on Friday, February 10, 2017 21:20:00
So I have decided to finally install some doors, starting with lord.
I found the docs for doors within the mystic\docs directory.

The problem that I am running into is good old reliable dos not being there. The message that I am getting is Unsupported 16 bit Application
The program or feature"\??c:\mystic\doors\lord\LORDCFG.exe" cannot start or
run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.

I tried dosbox version 0.74 that did not work.

    Any suggestions.

Under x64 the only doors you can run are the 32bit doors no 16bit, and if you or someone where to get those working it would not be a very easy task.

    Cheers!

    Gregory;
Well I thought about it and setup a test one on my Windows 8 machine. I tried it through Netfoss but after going to the Netfoss website, yes, they
have the latest version for Windows 10/8/7/XP/Vista etc... But 32 Bit only.
So Netfoss won't for for that. Windows gives an error when netfoss runs.
So I tried a run-around using Dosbox and failed as well. LORD would not run...
The only way they say to run Netfoss (Which I use Netfoss to run Lord on
my BBS under Windows XP), is to run your BBS under a Virtual Machine running Windows 32 Bit version....
I've run Mystic under a Raspberry Pi, but had other problems (Because I
was running Ubuntu MATE on the Pi... too many permissions problems)..

So I tried to find a solution for you but came up empty handed... EPIC FAIL! So at this point, I'm not sure what else you can do on your Windows 10 64bit machin other than load and run your BBS under a Virtual Machine...

I'm in the same situation here, running on a Win10 64bit system. What I ended up doing is setting up another computer, running Ubuntu, as a game server. I have Mystic set up on it, and have an RLogin setup from the BBS. It's a bit
of a pain, but it works. At least under Ubuntu I can run DOSEmu, which is pretty reliable.

I tried dosbox version 0.74 that did not work.

I tried the dosbox and doorway combo, and was able to get a couple games to run, but the ANSI was sooo messed up, and not very reliable.

If you figure out a way to make it all work under 64bit, please let me
    know... :)

As far as I know it's a 32bit system that plays nice with that kind of software. One of the reasons I am running my BBS with Windows 7 32 bit is for that reason.

If I wasn't dependent on MS Office for my schooling, I would switch this
system over to Linux. My classes are done the end of April, so we'll see what
    I do at that time.

If I knew then, what I know now... :)

    Will do, definitely...
