• Nodelist Browser

From bl00d@21:1/162 to All on Thursday, September 08, 2016 02:07:00
Up until today, all of my use of the nodelist browser was done locally. Today
I was trying to use it while telnet'd into the bbs, but I was having some erratic behavior.

If I was using Netrunner, after pressing B for the browser, I'd get 8-10
blank lines and some clutter on the bottom line, but it would not show anything.

If I use mt32 (mtelnet), I press the B and it does nothing, if I press enter again, the menu refreshs and I have the command prompt again.

If I am ssh'd into the BBS machine, using nodespy to login in locally, it
    works fine.

I have a basic install and have not done much modding yet.

Sounds like settings. There really are settings in both the terminal and
Mystic itself. With Mystic they are under L Login/Matrix Settings. They are Default CodePage, Local CodePage, Ask CodePage, Ask Theme, and Ask Emulation. Things have to match up between the terminal & mystic. The normal default is everything set to CP437 (terminal & mystic), but you can set it to Ask on CodePage and Emulation then it will ask like BBS used to in the old days ;) That way you can try all settings and see what is going on.

I did finally figure it out by accident (at least with NetRunner, I only
tried mt32 because NetRunner was having issues). It was because I had the status line on in NetRunner. Turning that off and the nodelist browser works fine.

When I select the nodelist browser in Mystic it only shows the list for one
of my networks, not all of them. What am I doing wrong?

Posting again since I never got a response to this:

    Greetings,

Can anyone tell me where the nodelist browser looks for the nodelist? It
seems every once in awhile my nodelist browser claims there are zero nodes?

    Regards,

It's a file called nodelist.txt that is created when you run the merge nodelists stanza in MUTIL. Hope that helps :)
