• ISIS hacking boards

From bcw142@21:1/145 to All on Sunday, January 22, 2017 04:37:00
Just had a hack attempt from Uzbekistan which I added to my badcountry.txt
In checking it out I found a TIME Magazine article of June 30, 2016:
How the Russian Fighters of ISIS Became a Terror Threat in Turkey
By Simon Shuster June 30, 2016
At the time, thousands of other young men from across the former Soviet Union were flooding into Syria, mostly from the predominantly Muslim regions of southern Russia and the formerly communist states of Central Asia, such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. In the last few years, volunteers from this part of the world have distinguished themselves as some of the fiercest fighters and some of the top commanders in the terrorist army known as ISIS. And according to Turkish authorities, these Russian-speaking militants may
now have started going on missions outside of their self-proclaimed caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

So, it's not just Russian hackers attacking our boards, but ISIS as well! Russian trained ISIS hackers. Added Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to my data/badcountry.txt Turkey and related areas were already there.

...Was Lizzy Borden one of the first hackers?

What do you mean with hack attempt?
I assume something different than silly script kiddies playing with their toys and sending some login requests.

And it is not only CIA, MI5, KGB (whatever they are called now), China and ISIS
but the WHOLE INTERNET is trying to hack you.

Get used to it, and keep your software updated, to offer as little attack surface as possible.
    (That includes not using abandonware)

If you want to try it, I've implemented Mighty Shodan API in my BBS, it has a section all for it.

What advantage does the API have over using the website directly?

A part looking at this fantastic search engine for IoT things directly
    embedded inside a BBS?
