Ahh, why mod default.txt rather than creating a new theme? Default is the default theme, I'm playing with a Lowvision, ASCII and C64 themes on my AlphaTest setup (often up at bcw142.zapto.org:2323). I don't think there's a good reason to mod default rather than create a new theme.

    Hi Bcw142!

    04 Jan 2017 18:48, from bcw142 -> solaris:

I'm playing with a Lowvision, ASCII and C64 themes on my AlphaTest
    setup (often up at bcw142.zapto.org:2323).

    Hmmm ... a C64 theme ...
Makes me nearly want to check it out ;))

    I recently bought a Wimodem for my C64/C128 https://www.cbmstuff.com/proddetail.php?prod=WiModem

Basically a modem emulator with an ESP8266, that connects to a telnet BBS via Wireless LAN.
    Incoming connections should also work.

I am not that much into BBSes ... but I need to check this out.
Sadly it is still in the mail ...

You missed the nearly part ;)))

    OK ... I tried it ...
My terminal does not seem to support ansi.
So I did not see any of the design ... but text only (why are linux termcap codes not supported??)

Anyhow ... it is simply not my cup of tea.
I find BBSes not very userfriendly ... to put it mildly cluncky and cumbersome.

Do not take it personally ... and it is definitely not your BBS, I have tried Avons ... and it felt at least as cumbersome as yours.

No bad blood I hope ... it is not my type of interface.

Hey ... maybe I try to connect to it again when I have my C64 Userport Wireless
    modem ...
It will be very authentic accessing your c64 themed BBS on a real C64 ;)

Will also try to set up a minimal C64 BBS, and make it available (for 5 seconds) to the internet.
Just to try if it works.

I will also try to connecz to commodoreserver.com they have a virtual disk drive that should be compatible.
It will mount c64 disk images via the Internet.

I will also try quantum link reloaded.
That is some kind of BBS with a specific protocol.
Seems to be the predecessor of AOL.
Somebody tries to reimplement the server ...
I am not sure if I can connect to it with my WiModem.

That is very odd, it should mostly work. There were a number of settings
on the way in to try to handle your setup. I know on the Pi I need to
tell it 1 for ANSI and ythen defaults for the rest. If the top ANSI
doesn't look right generally that means use UTF-8 (1=ANSI, 1=UTF-8)

Anyhow ... it is simply not my cup of tea.

I take it your a GoldEd or nothing person ;)

    Sorry ... you are correct!!
I was logged in from work with putty to my linux machine.
Putty seems to have screwed it up.

I just tried from my laptop at home, and it works out of the box.
And actually looks near useable now to me.

Still do not understand how people prefer that to a proper editor ;))

BTW. even on a stock linux term, I have issues with lines not being deleted. Eg. I am now in some kind of mail editor, but there are parts of the previous screen sprinkled all over the place.
    Looks like this:

    No ... not really.
MsgED and TimEd are all OK as well.
Recently I tried out OpenXP (Crosspoint), works nicely as well.
I can even understand that people use JamNNTPd.

It seems that BBS interfaces and myself are not very compatible.

I am eagerly awaiting my WiModem.

I will try your BBS with it and report back.
