• Testing NNTP in Mystic

    Hi everyone,

    I'm testing NNTP in Mystic. This is a totally new experience for me.
    I've never posted an echomail message in Thunderbird before. :) It's
    quite a modern experience. And this reminds me of the old Blue Wave OMR
    days. I'm currently thinking of providing NNTP access to my BBS when it
    opens. Is this a good idea? I am making an effort to make my BBS a
    messaging BBS.

    Also, I guess it is not possible to make Mystic e-mails accessible under
    NNTP? It will only be accessible in SMTP and POP?

    It's really up to you. I have only used it for my own testing purposes but it is an option that's on offer for your users. I think the code that g00r00 has developed for the NNTP server is likely to be less advanced than other dedicated NNTP servers at this point. So be aware that there may be the odd issue with clients etc.

    Also, I guess it is not possible to make Mystic e-mails accessible under NNTP? It will only be accessible in SMTP and POP?

    Correct as far as I know you can't access Mystic emails via NNTP

    The SMTP and POP servers offer a user access to their Mystic emails.
    Remember we're talking about internal only user<>user or user<>sysop private 'emails' there is nothing in these servers at present that provide for an Internet style of sending emails in/out of the BBS using a normal name@domain.com style of email addressing.

    Hi Balky!

    28 Dec 2016 09:43, from Balky -> All:

    I'm testing NNTP in Mystic.

    Also have a look at JamNNTPd.
    It is a dedicated NNTP server which will access a JAM Messagebase.
