• custom theme not showing

From Shift838@21:1/101 to All on Monday, September 23, 2019 14:06:15
I have created a few custom themes for my BBS. However, only the 'default'
and my first custom theme show up to select, my 2nd and 3rd do not show up.
I have created the text file by copying the 'default.txt' in the data
directory and naming it the same name as I set in the theme editor.

    any clues?

Clues? Yes indeed, can I actually help you beyond that? No. Wish I could, but what I can do is point you here: https://bit.ly/2mudlFN

Paul talked about copying more than just default.txt into your new custom
theme dir, and also a bit about making those theme selections available to users and in what way. i.e., allowing them to choose, when, or if they just
get a theme you choose. I seem to recall something about setting security or group settings about it too, but I only glossed over all of that with a
promise to myself to revisit later.

    I hope that helps :)

So what I noticed is that since I am trying to have 80 column ANSI, 80 column text and 40 column text themes I am asking if the user want's ANSI or ASCII when they connect. If you choose ANSI then you only see my ANSI themes
within the Account options. If you choose ASCII you see them all.

Still working on grasping all the functionality and how Mystic works.

As should be apparent, I'm having difficulty composing a reply.

I'm working in a Linux terminal ssh'ed into my RPi, running the Mystic
client. I'm attempting to reply to a post. I've composed my post in a text editor and am attempting to paste it into the editor window. Result: the
editor quits unexpectedly and a truncated partial post gets sent out.

    Is it just me?

    Here's my setup:

I've created a new /mystic/themes directory for my themes. Inside that I have
a separate directory for each theme, i.e.:

    mystic/themes/a/
    mystic/themes/h/
    mystic/themes/m/
    mystic/themes/orig/

Each of the above has subdirs m/ s/ and t/ for each of the text, menu and script paths. E.g.:

    mystic/themes/a/m/
    mystic/themes/a/s/
    mystic/themes/a/t/

Run mystic -cfg and select Editors/Theme/Prompt Editor. Here I have an entry for each of my themes.

    Filename Description
    -------- -----------
    default HUMONGOUS
    original Original Mystic Theme
    ASCII Plain Text (ASCII)
mobile Small form menu for mobile users

Selecting the first, I have the following settings:

    File name default
    Description HUMONGOUS
    Text Path /mystic/themes/h/t/
    Menu Path /mystic/themes/h/m/
    Script Path /mystic/themes/h/s/

I ran into a problem where there's a rather small character limit for each of the above paths, which is why I had to resort to single-letter names.

After that, I created the menus in an ANSI editor, and then used the Editors/Menu Editor to define them. I see all four choices at my login screen.

The four text files, ASCII.txt, mobile.txt, default.txt and original.txt are all in /mystic/data.

You can take a look at jenandcal.familyds.org:2323

    OK, never mind.

Turns out the text I was pasting in had lines starting with / which of course invokes the editor's menu. The whole thing was scrolling by so fast, I
couldn't see what was going on.

    PEBCAK.

i put in a request to the Mystic GODS probably 2 years ago, maybe a bit
longer about support 40 column themes. They answered fairly quickly with
basic 40 column support, but if I recall the message editor is still 80
    column.

Same exact way I have done it as well. i have a /mystic/themes/themename and
I copied all the default theme items to the txt, menus and scripts area. I then copioed the default.txt file in the data directory and renamed them to match the theme names.

then you have to do your mods.

I suspect it's because you are using the / in your reply and it may be triggering the menu in mystic, it happens to me also, pressing the / key
twice removes the pop up Mystic menu, That's my guess..

Great summary of how to do it. Also critical to have different theme file

Do you know if it is it possible to change the menu hotkey to something else than "/"? I triggered a Zmodem upload by accident when trying to paste some paths a while ago. :-D

I too am running 3 Themes now, anyone wanting to do this just watch Avon's video, it makes it simple to do, I setup a Themes Directory inside that I
have 2 folders for the non default themes, in my data directory I have 3 different default.txt's one is the ASCII theme which has been hatched, and
the other is a Image BBS theme which mimics teh Image BBS for the C64, that
one is not done yet but I will finish it one day, the next theme I want to do is a CNet Amiga Theme.. I'll get there one day! LOL
