I do have programming ability with JS/Node.js, but MPL seems to be more or
less Pascal...?

xqtr has written a few tutorials that are great. I think the archive is
called XQ-MPLTUTOR01.ZIP. You should be able to find it online and i know I have it in my file bases on the bbs.

There is a file that dream master released called mpl_112a36.zip that I have here. It's a great list of all of the functions available with MPL. Very helpful.

It was originally based on Turbo Pascal, but has evolved some.

Definitely interested in interbbs-style capabilities.

For interbbs, one option is to use a data message echo, such as fsx_dat.
That's what I'm working with for my interbbs trivia door. Take a look at Gryphon's mods, as he has some fantastic code available. Also xqtr has done some work with this as well. Both are great resources.

One thing that helped me before jumping into xqtr's tutorial was a quick Free Pascal Tutorial -- I used the one below as it had been 25 years since I have messed with Pascal but will help you understand the basics:

Im actually doing the rain dance I saw Bugs Bunny do when I was a kid to get those clouds to rain down and cool us both off!!!
