Where (or how - I think I know how) do I place an ansi for entering a
specific area? I think Avon does this, when you come into his message
boards, especially the fsxnet area. I was thinking I would do this for each
of the message areas (like retronet, fsxnet, survnet, etc).

I think you need to make an ansi for each message group. and for each group you would name the file Group1.ans, Group2.ans, ect and place them in the
TEXT directory.

its groupx.xxx where x is the number and xxx ans or asc
