read a basic default, htm file? I have a simple web page setup but even if I
do a 127.0.0.1 wont read it any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks Datalus

.HTM isn't real or specified for the web. Some Windows systems added .htm to the mime.types back in the day (1980's) and it persists, but isn't official
or specified. Official spec is index.html for default page (Not INDEX.HTN or INDEX.HTML, lower case). I did look it up, g00r00 tries to follow specs, not random stuff some others do. Things are more likely to work for everyone that way and everyone should see the same thing that way.

Back then all of the browsers were coming up with their own extentions. You needed 4 different browsers to surf the net. I'm sure you remember the "browser Wars". Microsoft tried to make the .HTM IE specific If Memory serves me correctly. I held on to Netscape for as long as I could. ;-)

I think it was more OS specific -- M$ always had 3 character extensions so
just decided they would go with .htm intead of .html.

I think even back then the servers designated which pages to push out to
client browsers and they did not care what the extensions were. But still pretty crazy Microsoft just did it their own way because they didn't care.
