So I added a couple MUDs up in Mystic that do outbound telnet to their
servers while one (coffeemud.net:2323) works but can be finicky the other one (starmourn.com:23) won't take any input at all. I know these servers are
meant to be run on MUD clients, but figured running outbound connection from the BBS should work as well.

Curious if anyone has ideas what would cause no input to be registered. It wouldn't surprise me if these servers aren't meant to run in this fashion,
but figured it'd be cool to at least try.

If anyone wants to give it a rip and can get it working let me know what
steps you took.

If it doesn't work with telnet clients then it wouldn't work with Mystic's outbound telnet. I just tried it with SyncTerm and NetRunner and neither of them allow input (I only tried the second one).

I am not familiar enough with MUDs but maybe there is a way we can get it working.

With MUDs and their ilk, you have to have local echo on. Also, the reason they're usually run with special clients is because typing in them straight like that is messy, especially if you have to backspace, so the clients
usually don't send what you type until you hit Enter.

I connected it straight through Netrunner and turned echomode on and it
worked, it's definitely not suited for these telnet clients. But unless
there's a way to do the same with outbound telnet via Mystic, I don't think it's feasible.

Meh, it was worth a try.

Yea I turned that on in Netrunner shortly after I posted and realized while
it can be done it looks like crap. Starmourn did anyway. Coffeemud doesn't
look too bad. It was worth a try though, would have been a fun little
addition had it worked out as planned.

Sure if thats all it takes I can make that an option. I'll give it a try and see what I can come up with.
