• Mystic on Galaxy S6

Just wanted to let everyone know I've ported my Mystic BBS over to my wife's old Galaxy S6 Edge in Debian Linux, and it's working beautifully. This is a full, real, desktop Linux install and not an emulator.

For anyone interested in doing the same, I'm going to write a how-to on my
site (www.throwbackbbs.com) detailing everything needed for a general
install, and all the steps I took for this specific phone.

This setup is only using WiFi, since it's not on an active cell plan, but
this could also easily work on a phone that does have cell service. I'll keep you all updated!

g00r00, first time someone's done this for Mystic, I'm betting. =) If you
could tell me how I can change the OS environment and build type reporting so it says "Galaxy S6 Edge" instead of "Raspberry Pi", I'd appreciate it muchly!

This is awesome! I had no idea there was a full Debian Linux for Android. I knew that there was planned to be a Ubuntu version so I guess that makes
sense since Ubuntu is based on Debian.

    Yep I think so :)

I am torn on how to do this. Really it should say "Mystic BBS 1.12 Linux (ARM/32 bit)" since its still technically Linux on an ARM processor.

The Raspberry Pi version itself should say that too.

I could make it configurable, but then people will just put whatever they
want in there which will kind of defeat the purpose of saying what OS it is :)

Very, Very Cool! So did you install Debian into Termux or something
different? Did you use the Pi version of Mystic (ARM processor)?

I wonder if it would be possible to create an impromptu BBS mesh/network at social gatherings/conferences?

Following Shinobi's instructions, I just got Qodem and MMail installed in Termux and have been connecting to my own BBS with that. Similar to using
the Android app, fTelnet but seems to work smoother... also file downloads
work which I have never gotten to work in fTelnet although Ymodem-G is is supposed to work.

You can actually install a bunch of different Linux flavors on this. I just chose Debian because that's what Raspbian is based on, and I figured it'd be the easiest to move everything over to since I was running the BBS on an RPi.

Yeah, I get it. I was just looking to see about customizing my personal copy
    to reflect this, though. =)

Linux Deploy, and a whole host of other things to get it going. I wrote a how-to on my site for anyone else that's interested in doing it, or even just installing a custom Android OS on their phones.

http://www.throwbackbbs.com and then just look for "BBS on a Phone!" at the top.

And yeah, the Pi version of Mystic, since it's the same architecture. It's pretty smooth!
