• Setting Mystic BinkP server password.

From opsys@21:1/101 to All on Monday, November 05, 2018 05:50:58
Does anyone know how to set the BinkP server password? Not on the client
side, but on the server side? I keep getting "unsecure" connection warning -- because I cannot seem to figure out how to set the password on the BinkP
server side. There is no field for it in the configuration menu, yet there is on the client side.. Thank you for any help!

I believe that the BinkP Password that you set in Mystic is Case Sensitive,
so make sure it's what you sent to the Hub as your password...

The node you are connecting to sets the password on their end.

Be sure you have the correct domain setup. Your password is matched against the node and domain, 1:234/567@fidonet or 21:1/999@fsxnet etc.

Yes, but where do I set that password on the server side?

I am setting up a message network between a couple of boards. However, I
cannot figure out how to set the BinkP server password.

Thanks for the response. However, I am the hub. So I am having trouble
figuring out where to set the BinkP password on the server/hub side.

I'm not really clear on what you are doing.. but there is no password on the hub. The password is between nodes (or a hub). Be sure you use the password the node (or hub) has also setup at the other side of the link.

Goto Config, Networking, Echomail Nodes, choose node, goto BinkP, enter Password there. This is done the same on the other "end" ... rinse & repeat for

    each node.

In Mystic, look in the Servers section. Also your passwords should be set up also in where you set up the Network Addresses...

There's no real server and client, binkp is peer-peer. You have to make sure both ends of each link have the same session password.

So if you have 2 nodes, say (using highly ficticious addresses here):

    99:1/1 and 99:1/2

On 99:1/1, the binkp session details must include a password, say it's
    SeCrEt".

Then on 99:1/2, there will be an entry for 99:1/1 as an echomail node (in Mystic speak). In that entry's binkp session details, you also have to make the session password is set to "SeCrEt".

If you had a second link, say 99:1/1 - 99:1/3, then you would use a different session passowrd, let's say it's "D0NTT3LL".

Here, on 99:1/1, the binkp session details for 99:1/3 would have "D0NTT3LL" as the session password, and on 99:1/3, the entry for 99:1/1 would also have the same session password ("D0NTT3LL").

you are going to have to add the password to each downlink, as
there is no place to enter a "default" password
