I use Syncterm under Xubuntu Linux. I installed also the fonts from int10h.org (Also know as The Ultimate Oldschool PC Font Pack). But it doesnt show my the block chars and line chars correctly.

Adding fonts to Linux should be as easy as putting them in ~/.fonts, but I've noticed it isn't.always, but Xfce which I think Xubuntu uses it pretty much that easy. Add the fonts to ~/.fonts and then click on the menu bar of Xfce under Edit, Preferences, Appearence, Font and look for what was added. Worst case is close the shell and open it again (to get to new fonts from shell).

I guess there was a message dump and xpost fromd dovenet. You're replying to
a necropost. I wonder if things had changed in the 2 years since the post
    was made.

Oh, is that what it is? My system that was Xubuntu back then is Ubuntu again now ;) This year's Linux of the month is Lubuntu for me, maybe I should turn
it in to that now ;) I take it an unknown BBS refurbished that message.

So I found out this morning. On the front of how things are done, there has been no change in Xfce and Xubuntu as far as the shell or fonts. Turns out at the time he was running curses mode which works a little differently (older throw back to TERM and TERMCAP and such), but basically the same. Just loads the fonts into the shell differently.
