    Hello All,

after some time spent in configuration I came up with following regarding
user experience in telneting to Mystic BBS:

    1) TELNET CLIENT: I used SyncTerm and NetRunner for some time. I really like it. And it's file transfer capabilities are unbeatable. However for commmon connection I prefer to ssh using PuTTY to my box and then telnet to BBS.

    2) SSH On Linux Configuration: To well display my own vim colorscheme I'm using:
    export TERM=xterm-256color
    in .bashrc.

    3) PuTTY Configuration: To display everything well.. including my national characters I switched PuTTY Translation to UTF-8

    4) Mystic BBS Configuration: The BBS is configured in UTF-8 too. In mystic
-cfg set Default Codepage to UTF-8.

    5) PuTTY Fonts: I tried quite a lot of different fonts. And what suited me
    best was the Ubuntu font
    https://design.ubuntu.com/font/
There is on catch. And that's the fact this font doesn't handle the ANSI Extended characters well... So some ANSI Screens didn't render properly.
So now I'm using Hack Font. And everything is just fine: https://github.com/source-foundry/Hack

I just want to mention this setup is done for private system. And possibly won't serve well for public system despite all the different terminals people are using.

    Take care

    Shinobi

That setup and those settings don't affect users at all. It's all on your end only - so it will work fine even if you had uses. That first CodePage setting under Configuration, General Settings in Mystic is for the system running it, not the users. The Default CodePage and settings in Login/Matrix are what affect users. So you can adjust the settings you did all you want without any issues even if you had users. Just so you know.

He opened the BBS. And there were users logging in. So he shut the public interface down. :-)

    Take care
