I'm very sorry to hear that, Paul. :(
I lost my Saint Bernard, "B†tsman", to cancer 4 years ago on September
11, and not one single day passes without me talking to him, assuring
him that we will meet again one day...
You have probably read the Rainbow Bridge poem some time, but if not, or if someone else hasn't, here it is...
Sorry to hear that. We also have a cat that we got from the SPCA. She is only 10 or so years old. I got her because my lady friend was feeling
down about the loss of a previous critter. It picked her spirits up immediately.
going downhill fast right at about this time in December. Spent my Xmas holiday caring for her...even though by this time she couldn't walk or stand by giving her milk & wiping her chin.
Even after all this time...still miss her like crazy...but with the way she was at her passing...am glad she's gone on that account. I will meet her again in the afterlife where she will bug me worse than when she was on earth. ;)
Really sorry to hear that Avon, I know how you feel. We just lost our
cat this summer who was 15 years old (had some form of cancer). She had
a pretty quick decline and didn't suffer long thankfully but it was very hard to go through.
After a couple of months, my wife and I adopted two cats from the local humane society. One was probably enough, but they are a fun bunch :)
Sorry man. Losing a pet hurts...they are such innocent creatures and they don't understand what's happening. It's a bummer. I have two dogs, one
10 or 11, the other is a year or so older. I fear the day one of them falls into ill health. Sorry again man.

It's not easy losing a pet, so I feel for you Paul.. Godspeed to the little Kitty when it is its time..
Sorry to hear :( Pets are family IMO.

You were a good kind person to your pet and that's all any animal could have hoped for - she was lucky to have you in her life :)
Yep totally agree, my 16 year old daughter knew something was amiss when George didn't come into her room (like he usually does) to sniff around for any scraps of food she may have left on a plate.
teenagers and food, what's with that eh?? It's like where do all the cutlery and glasses go in a house? Answer: a teenagers bedroom... it's like a vortex sucking in everything...anywhoo I digress)
Subject change... I read some posts of yours on FB that you're back working on Enigma again. I hope things are going well for you and you're getting enjoyment out of your project. It's great to see your labour of love along with Andrews and others evolving and being used over time by many interested folk.

I'm just catching up, sorry to hear this. You're not alone, many of us
have gone through the same thing. What helped me was to know that I gave my pet a comfortable life full of food, walkies, toys, things to nap on and affection.
Lots of stroking and lots of purring sounds like just the thing right
now.
Sorry about your cat. I agree with others, it's tough losing a pet. I had to leave my cat behind when I moved back to Queensland. She stayed with
my mum and I was going to get her if we found a place that would have pets, but she got run over.
I have a picture of her on my bookshelf :) Got her as a kitten she was very playful I'd constantly have scratches up my arms from playing with her.
She was the only one who stood by me the way I've heard family is
supposed to stand by you. It was the least I could do. Just hope this covers many of the sins in my own life when I wasn't so nice or caring.
Cat's (well, and many animals I guess) seem to like to head off and hide away when they know it's time to go. Seems built in.
Heh, my 10 year old does this, so I imagine it will only get worse eh =o
Yeah I have some time again. Also started working a bit on a textmode
game I've been wanting to write (which will be accessible as a door), so time is a bit split on those, though I get a better Telnet
implementation out of it I guess since I just wrote a new one that I
plan on putting into enig and the game.
Thanks Andrew... yeah bit bummed at the mo... give it a week or so
and we should be fine, got Christmas coming up etc.
The bummer for my wife is her mum is really unwell, and she's not
long back from a trip to visit her mum because of those concerns.
He health was really not good, she's in her mid 80s and we reckon
she will likely die in the coming months... not sure if it's weeks
or months but the outlook is not good nor reversible... so our cat
dying feels like a dress rehearsal for some more major stuff to
come and hits hard accordingly :(
We're also looking at pics too :)

Kindness and compassion no matter what stage of life is never a wasted thing... you sound like you did a grand job at offering both - kudos to you :)

George, our 18 year old cat died Friday night / early Saturday
morning.. we found him dead in his sleeping area when we got up.
So yesterday was spent grieving and having our children visiting
us also (three have moved out but live in the same city) to come
and say goodbye to him. We buried him in our front garden under
the shade of a tree last night... so yeah been a fairly torrid
few days.

The last time I saw him alive I'd given him lots of stokes and he was purring happily...like you I take solace from the fact he had a good
life and was loved and cared for right up until the end.
Over the coming days I'll ease back into BBSing again :)

I had moved back there for about 3 months to take care of their 50-something
daughter as she healed from 3 knee surgeries. Didn't matter I was
taking care
of their daughter...that because I'm not/nor will ever be LDS...that
it was
"unappropriate" for a single man taking care of a single lady. Having
been a
former "bishop" who she told me was into some freaky stuff because of
his
status...they threatened to have me arrested for tresspassing in their daughter's house...even though she/her lawyer & myself had an
agreement I was
to keep the house occupied to keep pipes & such from busting. Add to that...had her daughter & her African-American boyfriend
gansta-wanna-be
showed me a Glock 9mm (his external genitalia in his case) on me to
make sure
I understood they were serious. Her daddy had no problem with living
with an
African-American...but was bent out of shape I was caring for their daughter
when they did nothing at all to help...but nag/moan about it.

Well........ yeah, if you want to date 55 year old women... Not
what I was looking for when in my 20's....
Also, the parents of every girl I ever dated LOVED me. No really,
they did. I think it was because I was respectful to them, and
treated their daughters properly. Hmmmm.....
