Science Fiction? Is the network open to new applications, and if
so, can you point out an infopack or similar? Thanks.

SFNet is currently FTN but I am working on a QWK port of it at the moment.
QWK networking is something new to me so I am still learning how to configure the hub and what all is involved in that. Hopefully will be able to have that side of things up and running before to long.

as for the info pack, there is one available in the file section on most of
my BBS'. But if you would netmail me your internet email address I'll send
one out to you that way.

SFnet was created first to fill the gap left in the Fido community by the shutting down of the old TREKnet. Secondly to be a network to cater to all things Science Fiction and Fantasy related. This includes the Anime', Comic
    and
    gaming communities.

I set this network up using the FIDO type networking because this is the
most universal format for sharing message bases amongst the BBS community. Almost every BBS package in use is capable of using a FIDO type network.

The most recent arealist and nodelist can always be gotten from the host system: "Legends of Yesteryear BBS" at loybbs.net:23322

We are a new network looking for as many systems as would like to join.
Please remember, that because we ARE a new network, and the fact that there
are not that many people using BBS' anymore, that the message traffic may be very slow at times.

Hehe cool. :) I may switch boards to my Mystic hub, because that system is my FTN hub for a few other nets, and change node addresses on this one. This system is my QWK hub, however, as well as the one I normally read and post from. :)

Yes, it's pretty straightforward for me, though with 58 echos, it's a bit tedious to setup (having to set QWK conferences by hand, and correcting the QWK echotags to match your list. :)

SBBS is pretty straightforward. In short, you need to:

    1. enable the "Gate between network types" and "QWK networked" options for each echo.

    2. Set static conference numbers for each conference. These are the QWK conference numbers that QWK nodes will need to setup for posting from their
    nd.

There's also some permissions tweaks you need to do, such as adding "OR REST Q"to the posting permissions for the sysop conferences (and possibly for access, depending on your configuration). That allows QWK users (i.e. nodes) without sysop access to post to the sysop conferences.

As I am running Synchronet as a QWK <--> FTN gateway, feel free to ask me for advice. :)
