I'm sure more than a few of us here are already backers, and there have been posts about it before on fsxNet (ryan, i think?) but my latest
convo with Eric Nusbaum today confirms he's interested in working toward enabling door server-like capabilities (e.g. like doorparty, or BBSLink) where accounts can be auto created using an API. Which is super-rad.
What I would be really interested in is having a full pass through from
my mystic bbs to an mbbs door - I'm hoping once the author figures out more of the mbbs APIs for the games to actually function, he can spend a bit more time on the door server functionality. In an ideal scenario,
it's totally transparent to the user, and everything can happen automagically :)
Sounds like he's interested in doing that in the near future (post-April) with the API. I agree, if that happens--it's like 10-15 door games that have been rarely played over the past decade or longer. He also says if
he gets a couple hundred backers, he'll try to buy the IP from Galacticomm... Ha... Pretty amazing that he's essentially reverse engineering it all.
I did notice that there must be some sort of memory leak in MBBEmu, or maybe it's just a memory hog, but performance degrades for me over time, starts to become unresponsive and unusable. And since it's on the same desktop VM as my BBS, I had to take it down. Was going to put it on a proper server and see if that solves the problem...
