Still cheaper overall than that $4500/month rent! Ouch! one month of your
rent could run my car and keep it on the road for a year. :)

Is it any wonder that some people choose to live in their cars or a small
    RV?

With that sort of rental cost, yeah.

Google has had a community of RV-living emplyees for some time, I think they're starting to crack down on them. When you have restaurants and gyms
for free at your workplace and you work crazy long hours, it becomes much
more feasible to "live where you work".

I wonder if live/work balance is finally dead when Facebook has a campus
where FB employees live in FB apartments, then cross the manicured quad to
go to your cube. Seems like the ultimate extension of college life or a William Gibson novel.

Hmm, yeah it would seem work becomes more convenient.

Life has tipped my balance more towards the "life" side, which has had the side effect of largely insulating me from much of the economic side of the COVID-19 crisis. That means I can focus 100% on the health side, of course.

It sounds more like the "company town" of the 1800's.

Yeah, so graduate from college, while living in a fraternity/group house,
then get a job at Facebook, where your work and social life revolve around your "campus". What happens when you're laid off?
