• The cloud

I mean, cloud is cloud, try and be physically present to work on stuff in AWS ;) As a Systems guy I saw the writing on the wall 10 years ago with
the death of most data centers and mass migration to cloud. I pivoted in
my career and took my systems and programming skills to cloud land, and I highly doubt cloud providers are going anywhere anytime soon. But if they do, I'll pivot again ;)

(is it really even a pivot or just an evolution.. hmmm..)

Being able to pivot is key. When I started at age 18 in technology, mainframe systems were still the norm in most large data centers. I was the "young PC guy" at the time when most people thought they were toys for geeks.

Over the years, I worked on mainframes, midrange, servers, virtualization on prem, cloud, and networking. Loads of different hardware platforms. All fun to me - just part of the evolution of tech.

My main focus at the moment is networking and security, but I still really enjoy servers and virtualization.
