From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Thursday, March 19, 2020 20:28:40
Tonight our prime minister announced our borders would close to all expect
New Zealand citizens. We're now up to 28 cases in the country. Officials are working hard to try and flatten the infection curve, infact not one curve now but to try to turn the future situation into a series of smaller waves vs a crazy peak. Today indoor gatherings of only up to 100 people are permitted. Numerous outdoor events have been canceled. I do wonder if in the next week I'll be working from home and school may be shut. Time will tell.

I slept in this morning, been up a bit too late thinking about this stuff
which can do your head in a bit if you try to second guess what the end game will look like.

I hope where ever you are today/tonight this finds you safe and well.

Oh certainly. I'm glad I have a few Xanax around for when the panic really sets in. It's been a rough few weeks. Buckle up and start practicing social distancing, it's about to get bumpy.

No doubt, it is hard to escape. Especially when you are wired to problem solve
and want to help find a solution in some fashion.

I hope where ever you are today/tonight this finds you safe and well.

Been working from home most of the week. Had to go in part of the day on Tuesday to one site for a particular thing, but otherwise at home. Work has been insanely busy.

Can't wait until the weather warms up for many reasons. Hoping that helps slow/kill the virus and also will be able to do more things outside.

Here it's turning to crap, almost single digit figures today... Winter
like conditions in early Autumn today.

We had similar conditions in our fall back in October/November. We had more snow in the fall than in winter - which was pretty much zero.

Yesterday it was the warmest day so far this year at 78F. Today we are back into the low 50F range like happens often in spring. Lots of people were outside taking advantage of the nice weather yesterday.

Yeah I saw they just closed Bondi Beach because people would not stop going. We are experiencing a lot of that here in Washington and probably all over

There are some measures in place for NZAU due to the old ahh what visa was it? NZ's automatically get one here unless they're a criminal. Anyhoo, I think the Missus can technically get all the way back to Rarotonga, because she's a citizen, and then all the way back to Aus because she's married...sadly to me :) Cook Islands running on NZ passports...

I fear for the people that listen to the rhetoric here. I heard the virus called the "Chinese Virus" by one elected official, then in the same press conference heard his staff making allusions to the virus coming because of "illegal immigration" - a dog whistle for building the wall if I ever heard one.

The virus. The US cannot close their borders even for that because of the other group of nutjobs who think they should be open for anyone and everyone
