• Covid-19 and washing hands...

From poindexter FORTRAN@21:4/122 to All on Saturday, March 07, 2020 07:29:00
With everyone concerned about Covid-19, please don't use antibacterial soap. The active ingredient just ends up in the water supply. Plain old soap
    should work just as well.

... What is the simplest solution?

Thank-you! I tell people that all the time. Plain old soap and water
is still the 100% best way to not get the common cold anyway. First
thing I do when I come into my apartment is wash my hands, before I
    even take my coat off.

I am not 100% certain what they actually put in the machines, but we only appear to have anti-bac soap at work. I try to only buy regular soap but,
any more, it is difficult to find liquid soap that is not anti-bac.

Yeah, I mentioned this before, but early in my career I worked at a gaming company where young people worked crazy hours to get product out, ate like crap, drank a lot and went to work with whatever cold or flu was going
around. And I was fixing their computers.

I washed my hands religiously, took echinacea and vitamins, and went through the flu season without getting sick once.

An unlimited supply of free, vendor-provided video cards, beta testing the recent game on company time, and running a farm of SGI boxes, with a "spare" box in my office to play with. Good times.

I ended up getting the cheapest soap I could find at the local dollar store, works great, costs less and doesn't have Triclosan in it.

I was annoyed that they came out with antibacterial soap that needed new dispensers, so they could ride the antibac wave *and* sell new dispensers
    for the more expensive soaps.

I'm a soap purist. There's an old historical estate open to the public near
me that has that old-fashioned pink grainy soap granules they had when I was in elementary school. Works as well as any new soap, the grit helps get rid
of dirt, and I love the smell.
