    Do you know how to insert a Ctrl-A code aka “^A” in Midnight Commander in Linux? I’ve tried different ways and nothing works for me. Thanks.

    If you're on a PC, you may try holding down Alt while typing 001 on the
    numeric keypad, to see if that does the trick (ASCII 1 decimal = ^A).

    Similarly Alt+032 would yield ASCII 32 = a space, and so on.

    YMMV, but it's worth a try at least. =)

    Best regards

    I'm not really sure. Back around 1995 I used to enter those control codes for my RA BBS but I don't recall now how I did that.

    You can copy & paste with mcedit, and that is usually what I do. Just be carefull what yo copy and what you paste.

    You can only copy in MC Al. I don’t know how to paste though.

    To add a small tip, remember you can use printf

    example command:

    printf "\033[1;33mThis is an ansi sequence for color.\033[0;37m\n"
    printf "\001" >> /tmp/file_with_ASCII_OCTAL_001_appended.txt

    Use F3 to mark and F5 to copy.

    Digital Man's link to the mc wiki will probably give you better ideas as far as
    using @CODES.

    Sorry, I don't use MC, but DM did offer a link that may help you.
