    Hey Friends,

I got my surgeries today, was under the knife for about 5 hours. They removed some growths on my vocal cords as well as in my sinus cavity and multiple polyps throughout my throat. They're a bit puzzled where all of this came
    from.

Recovery is going to be tough, I feel like I have strep throat and can barelo swallow and my nose is bleeding profusely. I can't take painkillers which
thin blood (advil or stuff like that) so I am stuck using opiates, which make me hallucinate (veteran problems methinks). SO not looking for a pity party just like you fine people and wante dto communicate this out.

To add insult to injury I have a broken spine and have to sleep sitting up which is the worst. Hydrocodone to the rescue! lol.

I'll get the results of the biopsies in a few days. I'm optimistic here but
you never know. I'm 37 and my mom died of cancer when she was 36, and I have
a rather significant family history in general.

Well, hope all is well for you guys. My diet consists of go-gurt and otter pops. It could be worse!

Ouch! Glad the surgeries are over and you are at the point of recovery.. The opioids are tough when I was in the hospital a couple of years ago I was
taking dilaudel (I can't spell it but that is how it sounds) I didn't need it for pain I was in none, but I used it as a sleep agent. I would take it and fall asleep within 15 minutes. Don't know if you can take that but in my case there was no hallucinations from it.

Damn dude a broken spine also? How did you do that?? Take the opioid drugs
and get over it all.. Just watch what you say when you take them. I had the house doctor come in to see me right after I had gotten the shot in my drip
and when the Dr walked in there was a opioid abuse commercial on TV, and I
said to the Dr. "Hey Doc, look at this I am watching a Opioid Abuse
commercial high on Opioids!" He didn't find it amusing, and told me so in no uncertain terms, a couple hours later the house shrink walked in and wanted
to talk with me! It wasn't easy making him understand it was a freaking Joke!!

Moral of the story? Don't do anything or say anything stupid to the Dr's!

LOL Feel better bro. You got this!!

    Hey Friends,

Hey there Ryan, good to hear from you :)

I got my surgeries today, was under the knife for about 5 hours. They

wow, that's some length of time, but I guess when you're out to it, it
    doesn't really matter eh?

removed some growths on my vocal cords as well as in my sinus cavity and multiple polyps throughout my throat. They're a bit puzzled where all of this came from.

Well it's good they found stuff and could deal with it. I agree it will be
good to know more once they have a chance to do some more tests etc.

Recovery is going to be tough, I feel like I have strep throat and can barelo swallow and my nose is bleeding profusely. I can't take

All good. Reminds me of a time as a kid when I had really bad sore throat and my mum did mashed potatoes and gravy for me. To this date it is still my
super comfort go-to food. Fun fact, here we don't have Advil... I've heard of it but I'm guessing the active ingredients are marketed under some other
    brand names or some such.

To add insult to injury I have a broken spine and have to sleep sitting
up which is the worst. Hydrocodone to the rescue! lol.

How did you do that? Guessing it must have been some other accident back in
the day? You don't usually go to hospital and walk out worse... if you did
I'd be asking for a refund and 20 years off my aging process :)

Better to know facts, and if they take some days to get it's days well spent IMHO. I'm thinking of you and send my best wishes. Keep me posted on how
    you're doing.

as well be over 65... I only say that because there are times at work when

It could be even worse. Parents had a girl when I was 22 & half way thru college. Got told several times I was old enough to be her father. Sorry about your friends. That's a bummer. I guess in that case I should feel fortunate that they make me hallucinate and I can't take them. This is going
to be a very shitty recovery indeed. Oh well.

I can't take medical cannabis because the USA forbids it and I have a federal security clearance, in spite of the fact that I live in California.

Might pay to check just in case, in my youth it was one of the post tonsilectomy staples. Also used it once or twice when I've had other throat issues (like when #1 son gave me hand foot and mouth). Eggs generally are sterile, but it does depend on storage because the shells are actually permeable. You should normally try and store eggs in a clean dry location
with some air movement in an open basket kind of arrangement. Or if you
    prefer the fridge.

Ah, I think you're probably not American :P Our eggs are pre-treated for
safety and they lose the outer membrane, thus making them less safe. Oh well. Lol. I still sometimes make drinks with raw egg white or eat raw cookie dough.

Am going back to see my dr for a 6 month check up in around 2 weeks. How does this work in place of mental health meds? If you have a prescription for it from an actual doctor...would many companies accept that to keep from losing your job?

Please forgive my naive question...do you get a buzz off the pills like with smoking it? Am tired of feeling dizzy much of the time & want something which gives me the hi's/lo's I'm currently getting.

Ah, I think you're probably not American :P Our eggs are pre-treated for safety and they lose the outer membrane, thus making them less safe. Oh well. Lol. I still sometimes make drinks with raw egg white or eat
    raw cookie dough.

I've never seen a foreign egg :) If it was here*, I'd say its a no brainer and
just do it. However given the nature and range of injuries for want of a better term, might just be worth checking in with yer GP.

    * Here is defined as a place thats not there, in this case, Australia :)

Capitalism at it's best. Let us add some food colouring and sugar to water, freeze it and then sell it to the masses.

    ...problem? :P

Is that a result of the surgery or...?

    No, that's an older issue.

It could. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Egg yolks in the US are very yellow whereas everywhere else I've traveled the yolks are quite orange. Plus, in the US, you're required to refrigerate eggs.
I prefer eggs in other countries.

    Quoting Phoobar to Tiny <=-

Am going back to see my dr for a 6 month check up in around 2 weeks.
How does this work in place of mental health meds? If you have a prescription for it from an actual doctor...would many companies accept that to keep from losing your job?

..Again here in Canada it's legal for anyone over the age of 19 to use
so the risk of job loss for us doesn't apply.

Please forgive my naive question...do you get a buzz off the pills
like with smoking it? Am tired of feeling dizzy much of the time & want something which gives me the hi's/lo's I'm currently getting.

If you get ones with THC yes, I stick with mainly high CBD and a small
amount of THC for night time use as the combonation helps me sleep for
    a few hours.

Egg yolks from store bought eggs are the pale yellow. Get some "farm fresh" eggs from chickens that actually go outside and eat bugs and lead healthy
lives and you'll have the deep orange yolk.

Building a chicken coop is my project for this spring :)

Egg colour depends very much on what the chickens are fed. Usually pelletised feed lots will result in pale yellow yolks. Corn/Maize will help colour them up. But its the insects and things they eat if they're able to get outside and
forage that gives the brightest organey looking yolks.

Recovery is going to be tough, I feel like I have strep throat and can barelo swallow and my nose is bleeding profusely. I can't take painkillers which thin blood (advil or stuff like that) so I am stuck using opiates, which make me hallucinate (veteran problems methinks). SO not looking for
a pity party just like you fine people and wante dto communicate this out.

Hoping for all the best for you. Staying focused on positive things helps. Like having the time right now to do more BBSing, reading, relaxing as much as possible, etc.

Good group of people here to keep you company while your on the mend.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll see if I'm able to sleep through the night
and aybe ask the doc tomorrow. I keep wasking up gasping for air, like im forgettingn to breath. Ugh.

Most likely related to the sedatives. It has happened to me before too, normally after drinking beer and taking Nyquil or something like that for a cold. Makes you a bit too relaxed - at least that is my assumption.

That sucks. It's scary to get to this age and start wondering when these things might catch up with you. You're not old, but you start realizing
that you're not exactly a young guy anymore. Thankfully, family history is no guarantee that you'll have the same problems.

Yeah, it sure was good times in the teens and 20s (the invincible days). Then reality hits you down the road and your ways of thinking adjust.

I'm feeling that these days, I'm over 50 and it seems like some days I
might as well be over 65... I only say that because there are times at
work when I'm around colleagues who are parents of kids either just
starting school or thereabouts and I realise how much further down the pathway of life I am from them (3 of my 4 kids have now left home and I
have one 17 year old daughter who is in her last year of high school).. kinda bakes your noodle when you process how slippery time and your perceptions of it can be. Well at least that's the case for me :)

Your not alone there and have had similar thoughts. We are very close in age, which might be part of it.

Sometimes seeing a young couple with a baby in the grocery store brings me back
to when I was that age and had little ones. My oldest is 26 now which is 3 years older than I was when she was born.

I have kept all my financial records in Quicken since I was around 18 years old. Recently switched everything over to MoneyDance, but as part of the process was looking over old bills, paychecks, etc. Really brought back memories. I even saw some monthly checks I wrote to our local BBS hub back in the day as part of the "cost recovery" for long distance phone charges since he
did all the xfers out of state.

Yeah, I actually had to stop taking the painkiller because it was giving me some terrible hallucinations so now I just take ibuprofen and deal with it.
    Oh well.
