    Hello All!

Just wanted to let everyone know, I had a bit of a system issue today. The electricity blinked off momentarily, and my UPS never started back up.

I'm going to be getting a new UPS, as for now the systems are running without.

This is just unacceptable. I expect a 100% uptime, and I expect a
discount from my next bill for putting up with this abysmal performance. Thankyou very much.

Hehe. That was me making a joke by the way. It's probably less funny now
that I point out it's a joke, but you can't be to careful. Actually, it probably wasn't all that funny to begin with, so meh.

I'm going to be getting a new UPS, as for now the systems are running without.

ZOMG! RUnning a critical piece of network infastructure without a
    UPS!!!11!

What sort of UPS are you getting?

I do expect 100% uptime. Discounts will be shown on next months bill. ;)

I thought it was actually funny. ;) But, then again, I am a bit demented...

    I know! I can't believe it either! :)

I've actually got a couple of APC units on order. Each one it 1350 W, so shouldn't have any problems.

The one that died was a CyberPower. When it was new, if the power went out, I would get about 30 minutes. The next time I tested, I got about 4 minutes. Replaced the batteries, and got 8 minutes. Two weeks after the test, the power went out, and the UPS was completely dead...

Haha, when I first came back to the scene after moving back to QLD, I had
my bbs setup on an old acer laptop.

Laptop built-in UPS is great for the BBS, but not so great for the
    Modem/Router ;P

I'm not as concerned with 24/7 uptime as I am with having things shut down cleanly. I don't have enough battery backup to last through a power outage, but at least would like things to come up clean afterwards.

The last time I had a significant outage, the laptop came in handy. I took
it with me to work, connected to the guest wifi, polled all of my uplinks, then crashed my downlinks, then polled my uplinks again to keep mail
    flowing.
