    Hi there

It's a Saturday morning here in New Zealand as I type this, windy and a bit cool, it's meant to be summer. Hmm.

Have some updates to history.txt to share. I'll hatch out an updated nodelist and infopack shortly. I also plan to try and hatch some ANSI art files a bit later too.

Haha I'm using a Banana Pi, and have run some Pi based device since around 2016. Clever - yes, new, nope. However, my big upgrade this year, just before my burnout episode was probably a BBS saver - a 500 GB SSD, which allowed me to make the SD card read only. :) I could feel things going downhill and was concerned I couldn't keep up the maintenance of SD cards, which was affected before reading mail.

Right now, that's not a huge issue. I have a couple of spare SD cards. But
it's something I'll have to look into in the future. Eventually, 32 GB is
    going to start feeling tight...

I had to change them every 6 months due to wear, but no longer. :)

Reminds me how I just got a new phone (Fairphone 4), and it says something about being able to handle an SD (I forget the exact type) card up to 2 TB in space.

So of course I start looking on German sites for any place that _sells_ that size of card, and so far have only seen 512GB.

and, of course, there's the tiny matter of what I'd do with that much space
on my phone, and the obvious answer is to copy over my entire laptop hard drive, twice.

But I'm sure it'll start feeling tight before too terribly long -- videos
have their ways of taking up lots of space.

(@_@) 2 TB?!?! DAMN! My phone is just using the 32GB internal and a 64GB!

I really don't get why someone would put videos on a phone. I mean, why would
I watch something on a screen that fits in my pocket, instead of the screen that takes up a significant portion of my living room wall?

On the other hand, I did fill that 64GB with mostly music...like...my entire library...

    To each their own!

Smartphones are portable, so if you are deeeeeeeeply bored, you can pull out a smartphone and, as a desperate attempt to beat tedium, watch a movie in such a small screen, anywhere you are, anytime you are.

I cannot take a 40" screen with me and watch Fury (The Story of a Horse and the Boy Who Loved Him) in a waiting room, but I could do so in a waiting room. So there is that.

Other than that, there are not many other legit applications, unless you are poor and can afford a single piece of electronics, and it happens to be a mobile phone.

Mine also serves as a media backup. I bought a 512 GB card and copy any new movies and music to it to bring with me on the go.

On the rare occasions that I went out to lunch at work, I'd usually get something through drive-through, mount my phone on my dash mount, play the sound through my car and have a dine-in movie in my car. Even though most dining rooms are open now, I still prefer the former.

Yeah, I think it makes more sense with, "and I'm on a long trip and have my phone with me" or "I don't have space for a larger screen, so I watch stuff
    on my phone".

But I guess I was thinking more along the lines of watching video _that I
took on the phone_, as the phone cameras can create some pretty large files, these days, and people's best camera being a phone is probably standard.

Fair point. I basically never use a camera, even my phone's, so that idea had never occured to me.
