Took my wife to see them in September. She was a big Monkees fan. I
can't say I was, never watched the show, seemed a bit silly for us
rather serious Brits :) Anyway, I enjoyed the show more than I thought
I would. I'm glad I went.

Considering they had just done a 42 date farewell tour in little over 2
months, I would say it has done him pretty well. There are people who
have had less operations that have died younger.

I watched on YouTube a video of one of the last show, when I watched it I said to myself this dude is gonna be dead in months,, he was walking around on stage like a robot, you could tell he was having health issues as even when he was talking to the audience he was slow and weak. It's pretty sad to see your youth (mine as I watched this show both first run and re-runs) fade away.

It's sad he has passed but then none of us are getting any younger it seems. :)

There is a video on YouTube of the last 4 songs of the final concert, it's pretty sad as he is just walking around the stage in a stupor and he looked at times like he was lost...
