• Thank you fsxNet

Just want to say thank you, fsxNet, for offering a network that rejects polarized, political discussion, attacks and dis-information.

    <rant>
When I see other networks devolving into highly polarized posts (always US-based politics, right?)--and not just in "politics" or "debate" echos,
but in the "general" ones as well--it really sucks. Makes me want to turn
them off. But that's just me.

So this is my oasis. I'm grateful for it. And I think its why fsxNet will continue to grow a diverse group of international perspectives,
of all political leanings, hopefully free from the trolls and
    bomb-throwers that inhabit other forums.

Well, non-US citizens seem to often (1) only talk about US politics and how
bad the US is while (2) flat out refusing to offer any discussion about
their own government and politics, even when asked to do so.

So you wind up with a bunch of people from the US and otherwise discussing
only the US. I am certain the USA is not the only place where interesting things happen!

At least, that is my experience on fido and on dovenet. :)

It is nice not to have to worry with it much here.

Culturally and generally non-US citizens know more about the US than US citizens know about non-US politics (especially in the group of FTN members).

So you wind up with a bunch of people from the US and otherwise discussing only the US.

It's the lowest common denominator for a political conversation.

Also the FTNs are dominated by old white men. And when you look at the old male white voters in the US ...
    Okay, I stop here.

I guess we need a politics echoarea for non-US citizens and topics (in some FTN) ;)

I'm going to go through my QWK mail packet and move a couple of replies I'd made in DOVEnet's general echo. Thank you for posting this.

I cannot disagree with that, but you'd think they'd want to share if a US citizen is curious. After all, how should we learn? :)

I guess we need a politics echoarea for non-US citizens and topics (in some FTN) ;)

I am guessing some of our non-US citizens on FTNs are smart enough to know
not to try to moderate a politics echo! :)
