• Nodelist question

From Argos@21:1/203 to All on Friday, January 24, 2020 09:22:15
I have noticed that when FSXnet publishes out in a TIC the weekly nodelist
and infopack that when I receive them it replaces the one in my file
    directory.

Unlike SCINET or VKRadio I have also, the new infopak or Weekly Nodelist that is received just adds the file to the directory. So, tight now I have about 15 or so Nodelists and infopacks in my SCINet and VKRadio directory. However, I only have just one (updated) nodelist and infopack for FSXNet.

    Any Ideas ?

Not sure about Mystic. In Synch, there is a force replace that can be turned on
by area in ticcfg. You can also do it globally. Maybe in your cfg there is a force replace turned on for that area?

    Yep that's by design.

    OK

Yes the files for infopack and nodelist (for fsxNet) are hatched with TICs
that contain the REPLACE verb in them and let the BBS know as it imports the file what to do.. eg. replace old for new..

I set up those hatches this way to avoid the issue you are describing.

Of course the BBS software must allow/honour the REPLACE verb when a TIC containing it comes in. In the case of Mystic you will see that in the [FileToss] function stanza

    [snip]

: If this is true, then Mystic will allow the REPLACE TIC option, which will ; remove and replace files by the specified file mask.

    allow_replace = true

    [snip]

If that is not enabled the files would not be swapped out on a Mystic system when it encountered a TIC containing REPLACE

I have the same - I would prefer one "source of truth" in my file bases
insead of a weekly digest style.

That's odd, because I use the REPLACES keyword when I hatch the VKRadio infopacks and nodelists.

Well Thank you ... That completely explains it. the TIC must have the
    option set to 'force replace'

Yup. When Avon hatches it out, he is including the Replace verb into the TIC files. That way the directory doesn't get flooded... :)
