• Interesting Morning

    Hey

I had an interesting morning, woke up to see errors in my logs about
    archiving / unarchiving mail.

Not sure what happened but it seems dash stopped liking my command. Bash
worked fine, but I noticed I had an extra space before the closing
quotation mark, and dash didn't like it anymore.

I guess there was an update to dash recently? I can't figure out why it
has been working so long and then suddenly stops working.

Anyway, I removed the space, and it's now working with dash again.

I've also been mucking around with my DNS stuff, happyland DNS is now
hosted at vultr instead of no-ip, vultr has free dns hosting because I
have my VPSes there, and now I've figured out how to make my own dynamic
    dns server, I don't need no-ip.

Of course I had to move my mail server as well, so went with purely mail,
which is better, no-ip gave me one email address for $10 a year, purely
mail I can have multiple for the same price.

Hosting my own dynamic dns saves me about $60 a year, $30 for the no-ip
premium and $30 for my custom domain. Of course now I have a second VPS,
thats $5 a month, so all in all it works out to about the same, but
better I think, as I can do more with the VPS and have more email
    addresses if I want.

The down side is all those BBS listers that have happyland as 'barbedhook.ddns.net' wont work anymore, I should claim those pages and
    update them, but meh.

Had a doctors appointment this morning as well. So been a busy day so far
    :)

HAlf your luck, I used to dream about logs.. Well I was starting to after 3
and a bit days with no power... :P One decent storm thursday night took out
a tree just down the street and took out 3 streets worth of power lines.
SAid tree was holding them pinned to the ground...

So for a while there crews would turn up look at the mess, scratch their
heads and drive off again. I think the power guys had to supply their own
tree removal crew in the end. SES wasn't having a bar of it.
