*** Answering a msg posted in area BAD (Bad Messages).

    Hi Josh,

Posting this here. Message caught as 'bad' due to supposed date of orignal message which looks like 2012 instead of 2021

    FROM: 21:2/100
REASON: Mail considered to be too old
    AREANAME: FSX_GEN

I was just thinking back on in-person meetings with other BBSers in my local-calling area, and remembered the time this guy picked me up, and
we took over one of the local university's computer labs for networked Doom and MUDs/talkers on the Internet. We were only in high school, so
had no right to be in the labs, especially for things even the uni students weren't allowed to do. Soon enough, the lab was filled with actual students and even some staff and professors, either installing
Doom on other systems or hogging the minute Internet resources for
    games.

What might be crazier is that this dude just called me at random one afternoon and said he was picking me up. Both I, as a 14-year old, and
my parents were cool with that! Wow. Of course, he actually did turn
out to be just another fellow high school student, but still.

What about all you? Any such memories that stand out?

Thanks for catching those. They were actually tests, but with real content so as not to throw the signal-to-noise off. Been having an issue where messages posted on my BBS using QWK/REP are not detected as dupes as they come back to my system. (An unrelated issue is actually causing all my fsxNet messages to be duped and sent back to my system, but my hub and I are currently fixing this.)

I wanted to test if it was simply my users' Offline Mail Reader (MultiMail) by trying another OLR, but I got too clever by half and used BlueWave for DOS, just for the nostalgia kicks. Turns out it was a bit too much nostalgia, because it had Y2K issues.

And in the end, I didn't even get the test, because my tosser flagged them as too old, so I'm not sure if it even got to the dupe-checks.

    Ah good to know.

Yep I'm aware of the issue you're having as Solaris has been in touch with me and I've seen some of your FTN in/out logs which all seem fine. It's the more granular detail of what the tosser is saying that I couldn't really see.

I'm not as well versed in matters QWK as I really should be, but others will be able to chip in on this subject as well.

    So two issues then?

    * All your fsxNet messages sent via FTN to 21:2/100 are coming back to you

    * Messages posted on your system via QWK then sent via FTN come back as dupe in your next FTN polls to the HUB

    Am I understanding this correctly?
