I suppose killing FSXnet by homicide would be a bit of a differe ending an online thing.

If we do this, we need to do it on a moving train or something... mor like an Agatha Christie plot :)

    Who killed FSXnet!?!

More like... hey buddy psst... who killed fsxNet? :)

Was it... Adept with her political tirade springing from copyright law, describing Disney as, "a roid'd up mouse doing a drunk uncle impression"? Or was it... Avon, with his swearing at everyone using pejoratives
unknown by Americans? "You have such pants opinions!"

Hahahahah.. :) I stand by my comments that the Star Trek movie with the extra Vulcan in it was pants (Star Trek 5 - The Final Frontier).. has to be said :)

    Find out! On Fight-o-net.
(I assume Fidonet is basically unkillable at this point. At best it'll be undead.)

From a licensing perspective, it depends on where you are. Royalties are
still due. Here in the states, LPFM or even LPTVs are highly encouraged.
I've considered opening up an LPFM. It's not as if I don't have the
hardware (Arrakis ARC-15, EV RE-20, multiple Denon CD Cart players, ITC
    cart decks... and so on)

Of course, you could make your own super LPFM by finding a Griffin unit for
an iPod... take the transmitter off of it and putting it up high in your
house. This will raise your ERP (estimated radiated power). With the right height you can just about cover a block radius. I've done this in the past.
It was cool to see cars stopped just to jam what I was playing at the moment before moving on.

Yes thanks, yes I like that remix so added it in. Your thinking of Donna Lewis... :)

If I could request a song? "Tal Bachman - She's So High"

I remember liking that one from high school as well.

Good choice, that's a solid 90s hit. I will try to add this and let you know when done.

    Howdy,

One thing I've wanted to ask you about your radio is about volume.

I toggle a lot between radio (on Tunein), Spotify and TotalFM - and I find that if I was listening to Total FM and switch to another music source, I need to turn UP the volume.

Converserly, if I was on another music service and switch to TotalFM, I have to turn the volume DOWN.

Is this normal? Not sure if others notice, or if it's just me...

I've noticed that too, when I head to totalfm.nz I always use the volume control on that stream and turn it almost all of the way down. No biggie as it tends to run in the background for much of the day, so I don't really need to fiddle with it.

    Hi Jay

I do pay an annual fee that covers such royalties. It's paid to an
organization that represents both the artists and publishers. This keeps the station nice and legal in that regard and ensures I can both broadcast music over the air (FM) and online as a music stream.

Have a look at onemusicnz.com for more info :)

It is a function of the audio processing that is being applied by the broadcasters in question. In the case of Total FM yep the audio stream online and the signal being broadcast on FM are both processed.

It's a combo of compression and limiting done in a multi-band fashion.

The topic is one that engenders all sorts of passions and debates about what
is 'good' vs 'bad' or 'best' etc.

But that's why you are noticing a difference :)
