Busy days at present. Have a few of my older children needing parental help
for various things. It's keeping my wife and I occupied and pondering a time before having kids :)

Still very cold here, seen some crazy weather and short days... heading to
work in the dark, come home in the dark.

I'd like to make some more time for BBSing but I get home at night right now and sorta flop... have been watching a few 80s and 90s movies on a streaming service called Pluto TV lately. Saw some old Clint Eastwood film from 1993 where he played a secret service guy protecting the president of the USA. It wasn't too bad. The actor is in his 90s now!

Trying to be good and watch the amount of junk food I have been eating
lately. That's been mostly successful but when kids cause stress it can lead
to the old wobble and I relapse :)

Going to head off an visit my elderly parents in a few weeks. I last saw them in February and at that stage my mum had suffered a fall and broke a few
bones. She's on the mend but I think both her and my dad are doing it fairly tough at present. It will be nice to see them for a few days in a few weeks time. I want to be the guy to offer to do some odd jobs while I am visiting.

Not much else in the way of news... noted it's a bit quieter here at present but when I think of many who post here are stuck in a hot oven part of the world right now, I can well imagine many would be heading to the beach if
    it's safe to do so.

Stay safe folks and I trust you are keeping well / cool / warm etc..

Yeah, winter is kind of depressing... Happy to have summer here right now! 25øC and some occasional rain drops some days.

    A remarkable actor, indeed!

And I like those kind of movies. Actually, almost anything involving law enforcement, agents, covert operations, FBI, CIA etc. etc. =)

Much needed by a government employee whose day-to-day job offers quite different action thrills... =)

    Best regards

I have a "kid" who's turning 18 this month, getting ready to get a driver's license, own his own car, starting University in August and is getting a
crash course in what Adulting is like.

We just got back from a vacation with kids and need a childless vacation
soon. This November is going to be our 10th wedding anniversary, we're
    trying to plan something then.

Yikes, and I just realised that I'm going to have to start referring to
my parents as elderly soon. Not that they'll have a bar of it. But
    they'll be 70 next year.

I am fortunate (or some would say unfortunate) in that my kids (step kids) and my wifes kid don't have anything to do with us. To tell you the truth even though the kids can be a pain at times cherish them otherwise they may stick you in a home and forget about you when your losing your last marble. ;)

That was January/Febuary for me. Been 90 last few days with thunderstorms in the late afternoon. I'll see if I can send a packet of warm air to you...

Same here, get home from work, read email and try to keep up on the board. Saw the movie "In The Line Of Fire" thought it was pretty good. Watched Terminator 3 and War Games over the long 4th of July weekend here in the states. Stay safe
(and warm) and keep the family close.

What will end the existential threat children represent is the fact people is actively choosing
not to have them. They used to say the problem in Spain is that young people does not have the
resources to raise kids, and that was the core of the issue. However, I have detected that the
people who DOES have resources to raise kids prefer not to have them, because they are not worth
it. It seems better to them to spend their time and money in beers instead.

Besides, both the media and the political establishment are bent on telling people that the only
chance homosexuals have at having kids is adoption - so they can push this or that policy in
Congress. I don't think N1uro is too off the mark here.

I mean, what sane person would argue otherwise?

Heck, Paulie420's BBS is 2o for Beers. I doubt $20 for childbirth would be nearly as compelling.

If you want to rationalize it, it works like this:

    * There is some activity that maximizes your happyness (having beers like crazy).
    * This activity takes time and money.
    * You have lots of other things to do that take time and money, and cannot be skipped. For example,
fixing the car so you can buy more beer. Time and money spent on these activities is time and money
    not spent in beer.
    * Have a kid. It is a massive investment, but eventually you will be able to task him with all the
menial tasks that prevent you from having beers, so eventually you will be able to enjoy more beer
while your kid washes the dishes, mows the lawn etc.
    * By the time the kid takes revenge upon you by sending you to a nursing home you will be too
Alzheimer ridden to enjoy beer anyway so the payback is not at a loss, actually.

That's a compelling argument, but it's really only getting me to, "$20 for child labor to gain beer-drinking freedom".

To be fair, the complete nonsense of that sentence is starting to make it entertaining. Are we for child labor, or for child labor to be allowed to
drink beer? Call and find out!

That's kind of the same here in Canada. I remember as a kid there were some Halloweens where we would have our winter jackets and snow pants on underneath our costumes when going door to door. Not every year, but a good chunk of them.

Now we're lucky if we actually have a white Christmas. Of course if I had my way, it would snow on the 24th and melt on the 26th. ;)
