From poindexter FORTRAN@21:4/122 to All on Friday, January 17, 2020 09:29:01

I found a link to a geek house in Santa Cruz from the '90s, and thought wistfully of those days - setting up a shared printer in the house, /~user home
pages for housemembers with hand-hacked html...

It's like a slice of my life preserved for all posterity (or at least until the
    hard drive spins down...)

Purity tests, users who work at Sun Microsystems, 1.2 mpixel cameras, usenet news feeds, the talk command, "upgrading" to a DSL line, connecting an Amiga to
the net via PPP, Under Construction GIFs, and XENIX. The main box runs on XENIX, about the time I was at SCO taking a week-long XENIX class and enjoying the weather on the coast.

I miss those days, when tech was new.

You ever seen ActiveWorlds? I used to be on there when I was younger and I recently went back to see if it's still up. I recommend people go take a
look, it's a amazing look at internet history from the mid 90s onwards, Especially in Alphaworld (AW).

Born too late to experience the scene.
Born just in time to see it come back.
