Looks like our summer heat waves are getting started.

Forecast for my area calls for mainly sunny weather with temperatures around
32 degrees celsius (~90f) with a "feels like" of 38c with the humidity
(~100f). At least it's going to fall to 20c (~68f) overnight which is more manageable.

Can't you just literally tell Alexa to draw the blinds, close
the shutters, and crank up the A/C. ;)

It can get pretty warm in my house (no A/C), but the key is to
close any open windows (which I haven't even opened yet this
year), and keep the doors closed of any extra rooms I don't
need. I can always slink away to the lower level of my split-
level home to escape the worst of it, but it's not the most
"liveable" environment there at this time.

Yup, we can ask both Siri & Alexa to crank up the AC. But alas, I still have to get off my duff & close the blinds manually like a caveman... ;)

My Dad is in the same boat, he doesn't have AC either. On very hot days he closes up all the curtains and will retreat to the basement. When he's had enough of that he'll grab the dog and drive up the road to Longs Lake where they have a dog beach and go swimming.

Something tells me your cat(s) wouldn't appreciate a dip in the lake. ;)

    The horror!

A few years ago I fitted a portable A/C's "vent" into my living
room's sliding door (using stiff foam and duct tape), but that
provided gaps for mosquitos to slip in around the "opened"
screen part. I would rather contend with humdity and heat by
strolling around naked or a wet towel than fight off mosquitos.

So.. I stopped using the machine after I learned that most
intolerable hot days are relatively few.

Something tells me your cat(s) wouldn't appreciate a dip in
    the lake. ;)

The cats seem to find natural cool zones such as tall grass and
shade. Unfortunately, I think they also seem to pick up fleas
there too. Time to treat them with the chemicals which they
hate. When they'd hear me pop open one of those treament viles,
    they'd scatter. :D

So what better way to log into a BBS than in a public park while drinking
    iced tea? ;)

Cool. It looks like you've got me on screen. Those X1 Carbons
    don't come cheap when new.

I took a quick trip to the landfill, and then a stop-over to
get some coffee-room things for the shop. It was the first
time this year that A/C needed to be used in my truck.

It's relatively tolerable in the house with all the windows
closed - so that's where I shall hide for the rest of the day.

It's been quite hot here for this time of year. The temps were running around 33C last week. It's an overcast day today with the temp currently 17C, much easier to take.

I am hiding inside today although I have the windows open instead of the AC, for now anyway.

Here we had a max of 14c and a low of 3c today :)

Ugh. The A/C was on full blast in the taxi on Saturday and it almost
wasn't enough to keep the heat at bay. Picked up an afternoon shift
today (like a moron) hoping it won't be busy. (Currently not driving
taxi, but transit on demand so the less I do the more I make)

Both bedroom and living room a/c are on here. Still humid.
