Hmm so struck a new problem.

The Reader is happy reading these JAM bases... BUT it doesn't appear to be keeping last read pointers. Its set to using non-compatible software rather than SuperBBS so's I can use the JAM bases. Not sure what to do about it. Message areas full, and always new :/ Maybe fake another copy of the userbase and try to get it to update? Ponder...

Jam areas use the [BASENAME].JLR to store the lastread pointers so I hope the reader will use that. JAM bases have a lastread along with a highread.. so..

So the bases have .JLR files, of course in line with persistantly new messages, said files are empty. Even to the HEX editor, they're just filling space. Be interesting to see what the contents look like, and see if manually editing one actually makes any difference. Could be it ignores it altogether. Not sure if FastEcho should be writing anything in there either.

I don't think your tosser will ever read or write those .jlr files. Your maintenance might adjust them when packing msg bases but aside from that those files are only used by message readers.
