There is a bit of that unless you visit some channel that is very
active.

Nowadays you need a ZNC or an IRC client running 24/7 in a shell in
order to really take advantage of IRC. It is not like those years in
which any random channel was churning day and night with discussion.

Ok, good point. I used to do that, but it's been a long time.

I used to be on IRC all the time many years ago, when people were
chatting together. But these days, my chatting time is a lot more limited, and chatting spans many more time zones (back in the day, I
used to chat more with people in this general part of the world).

Good point, in my case, I'm on some very active Discord servers, some can
be hard to follow, and the notifications are constantly going off, so
I had to shut that off, or it would blow up my phone. LOL

Though, I might have to drop some of those, I can't keep up with chat
going that fast anyway.

I've got one going off tonight, funnily enough. :) But catching up is easy. On IRC, it's just gone.
