Neat, Kyle was the city I lived in in Texas, just before heading out to Portland, OR. :P The sysOp might have seen me and my Great Dane, Big John, walking in city square by the cop shop or around town in Kyle... :P

Hello, SkiZM! Hows Kyle doing these days? I haven't been home in a year+!

Thanks for the help setting up Avon and Black Panther! This was an excellent decision, this network has a wonderful bunch of people, and I have enjoyed catching up to the ongoing conversations.

Nigel asks where, possibly joking but I'll answer anyway. I'm in a town in the woods and foothills of south-western Maine, about 20 minutes north of Sanford, 45 minutes west of Portland. The first one, not the Oregon version of Portland. ;)

When I was a teen, I ran a dial-up on RemoteAccess and then WildCat BBS, my friends racking up their parents' phone bills until the Internet became the thing within our local exchanges. I missed the games and the community, but people had dispersed to the world wide web.

More recently, I discovered that BBS server software is still maintained, and longing for the old days, I fired up Mystic and then Synchronet. Both are great, but I feel Synchronet met my personal needs better. So far the membership is a handful, but I haven't really put it out there to my nostalgic friends, yet. I'm still polishing it up.

    Thanks for having me,
    -Roen

Coolio and thanks for your kind feedback/comments. Good to know it's all working for you.

I am admittedly biased but I agree the folks here are a nice bunch of people to chat with. We all have our different interests and passions within the BBS scene and that makes for interesting reading as assorted topics come up / folks ask a question etc.

I hope you have fun with your BBS setup and delving into the areas of the
    hobby that interest you.

Synchronet is a great choice and one of many options out there today. Rob aka Digital Man has certainly put many years of love into it that's for sure.

    Thanks for having me,

    Thanks for posting!
