• BBS shutdown

From lemonlime@21:1/101 to All on Tuesday, January 07, 2020 05:08:32
    Hi All,

Unfortunately, it appears that the VM I used for my BBS was corrupted and
can't be recovered. To make matters worse, it looks like my backups were not working properly and all I've got are some really old ones that are too far back to be useful.

Rather than trying to rebuild from scratch, I've decided to shutter the BBS and shift my focus and time to some other personal things. It was a great experience being a SysOp again and I hope to still be around in the message areas via other boards. Thanks again to everyone who helped me get setup with Mystic!

    Cheers,
Mike (aka lemonlime from the Stellar Darkness BBS)

Mike, you'll be missed, If you're about via another BBS connected to fsxNet
do pop in and say Hi... I hope the future treats you kindly and thanks for taking part :)

    Best, Paul

I hope that by the time I finally hang up my sysop hat there are still BBSes around. I'd like to finish off my BBS experience the same way I started - as
a caller whose only worry wasn't nodelist updates, or corrupted message
bases, or failing hard drives - just busy signals. And no busies now!

    :) Nice...

Yeah for me I think I'll remain a sysop up until the end and when that time comes I hope I am remembered by the online communities I was part of...

I'm not a sysop, but I *HAVE* felt the frustration of hours and hundreds of hours of effort being put into something just fall apart... I hope that the PROCESS though was the most enjoyable part, and that this won't get you
down. Hopefully you can look and see and then say, "yes, it was worth it,
but now there are other things I want to do."
