• FidoNet routing

From Nick Young@21:4/145 to All on Saturday, March 06, 2021 14:42:34
    Hi All,

Can I send netmail to FidoNet through fsxNet? I'm sure I remember seeing somewhere that it'll route through my hub onto zone 3? I can't find any info on this (I don't remember where I looked).

    Is this possible?

Your Fido application is being processed in zone 2... Please be patient.

Yes if you send a netmail to Zones 1 - 4 via the 21:1/100 HUB it should route it onwards to those zones..

    Thanks Paul

I'm not sure if my BBS is setup correctly but I think at the moment it'll route all mail through 21:4/100, I assume this would then route zone1-intended NetMail through 21:1/100?

Under past setups at the HUBs yes, but I will just need to check in with Dan
    at 4/100 to confirm.

Yes if you send a netmail to Zones 1 - 4 via the 21:1/100 HUB it should route it onwards to those zones..

BTW: I've set up Hub 3 to forward anything for Z1-4 to 21:1/100 - so in theory it should work for Hub 3 nodes as well.

If you send a message to ping@3:633/609 (my BBS in fido), it should go via Hub 1 and you should get a reply (via Hub 3 - since my BBS knows how to find you). Naturally, sending a Z1-4 netmail may work outbound (from your FSX address), but it is highly unlikely that you'll get a reply back unless the receipient BBS has a specific route to get the cross zone replies back to you.

In theory this should also work for non-Hub 3 nodes, even though we dont have session configuration, dropping a netmail via Hub 3 should work for you too (including a ping to my BBS).

Yes, if you send a netmail to a fidonet node through fsxNet, Hub 4 will route that message to Hub 1, and be sent out to fidonet. (I had to double check the config, and it is set up) ;)

I checked the config to make sure. Any netmail that comes in for fido is set up to route to 1/100. :)
