• Hey there from me

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 19:33:08
Spent a day or so away from BBSing. Been back at work and still juggling care for my wife who is getting better but needs time to heal from her surgery.

Been working from home the last few days and may go into the office either tomorrow or Thursday but quite happy to be out of it for now.

Slowly trying to piece together what I need to set up to automate some stuff
I had working for 1/100 under Windows but now need to redo/learn for Linux.

After days of trying to get SSH style logins to my webhost I think I have
that solved now. It seems there's only certain accounts I can use to login to them from my Linux box so I was on a hiding to nowhere to start with while I used the wrong accounts but the correct syntax.

I'm tired and feeling a bit flat but I think after the busy few weeks I have had being a full on care giver and also not feeling very well myself it's
just sorta caught up with me a bit.

I'll play a bit tonight on a script and then probably chill with some Netflix.

Hope you guys are going well.

    Best, Paul

Life gets in the way, important things. :)

I'm dealing with another lockdown, though hopefully tomorrow is the last day.

I find Linux is much easier for automation, once you get the hang of it. I'm sure if you post questions, we can help. :)

As long as the account you use will get the file up with the correct ownership/permissions.

Hope you guys are going well.

Going well here, despite the lockdown, I'm able to train with some measure of normality on local footy ovals. :)

Family first, taking care o a loved one (even if it is just simple things)
can take a lot out of you.

I'm tired and feeling a bit flat but I think after the busy few weeks I have had being a full on care giver and also not feeling very well
myself it's just sorta caught up with me a bit.

Make sure you take time for yourself (A Netflix night sounds like a good idea)When i was setting up my BBS I was working on it using all my spare
time, once I got it working correctly I have taken a few days off to get a fresh perspective.

I'm hoping that's been lifted for you now?

Here we moved down alert levels in the last few days so an restrictive
    measures have now largely eased.

Thanks! Yes I am starting to feel the same way.

start with while I used the wrong accounts but the correct syntax.

As long as the account you use will get the file up with the correct ownership/permissions.

It was me using the incorrect account login in the end that was the major issue... but it took time to suss out which login to use :)

Hope you guys are going well.

I'm working from home today, watched the mars landing too which was fun, it's just on lunchtime so trying to read echomail and catch up on the goss.

Yep, back to almost the previous "COVID normal" with a few extra restrictions.

Here we moved down alert levels in the last few days so an restrictive measures have now largely eased.

Same here. Some restrictions on home and public gatherings remain until the end of next week.

Cron, a pile of GNU utilities and shell scripts are your friend there. :)

    Oops. ;)

Cool, I missed most of the Mars landing, was preparing for a long day running around like a headless chook. :)

I need to catch up a little bit - I saw the first few images that came out when they landed, but I'm sure theres a cache by now of the GOOD stuff??? I plan on looking into it this weekend and seeing if the rover has sent out any high quality images.

We are literally living in the future. :P

    Hey there Paul,

I hope you are doing well. It's been a rough year for all of us. Make sure you look after yourself. Being a caregiver is great, but the best care starts with yourself.
Anyway, I hope you are doing well.
