I had a room mate in the Army who spent the weekends drinking and playing Sam Cooke music. Most of his songs are imprinted in my head still 30 years later.

Hello Ogg,

I'm Canadian and I don't recognize the voice so he's probably come along in the last 20 or so years.. I pretty much stopped listening to newer music/artists as they all sounds the same now.

I never heard of the guy before either. Apparantly he stayed
primarily is an accompanying singer and guitarist in other bands
for his many years. It is only recently that he's ventured into
solo.

previous message.

I share your sense of some music sounding all the same. For me,
it's in the female pop category. All the young female singers
emote a whiny squeeky edgey voice. It's pathetic. Even the
younger male singers: Beber, Jonas, etc.. sing with a airy
breathy pining sound as if they need to go for crap real bad.

Not sure what categories you listen too, but some of my favorite tunes/singers are these (and their sound is distinctive and
