Channel 4 produces an alternative message evey year, but this years was a little more up our alley than normal. Channel 4 did a great job this year... I've [now] watched some of their previous 'Queens Xmas msgs' and... 2020 was a great one. Kudos on them; the actress was pretty funny, too - well... not during her gig, but if you watch the making of video, it was neat to see her take on the whole thing... she said she's really interested in deep fakes. REALLY?! Lol...

You know, Channel 4 is a large network in that country, and I would assume they didn't match it on purpose - I wish they could have, or would have, matched it 100% - I bet they were more concerned with NOT creating something that citizens might be spoofed by - even tho they do an 'alternative queens message' every single year, than they were interested in showing how far feep fakes can go. I wish they'd of chosen the latter, and just put a disclaimer and/or that fuzzy flash back and forth to the actress... or SOMETHING, because they really produced this deep fake well.

I wish they had shown it AS GOOD as they could have, but it was really fun none the less.

Kudos Channel 4!

They could have matched the voice and added a permanent
watermark, logo, or a semi-transparent banner on the screen
announcing that it is just a parody.

I do enjoy the Queen's message each Christmas. It's so wholesome, and reflective. Just what you would hope to expect from a Royal and Head of State.

The Deepfake is pretty clever too.

and matching the face to the movements of the actor. I was
surprised that they didn't need to use any of those "dot" masks
over the actor's face. But then I realized that was because all
the scenes of the Queen's face were facing straight forward and
didn't need have any side movement or turns.

The joke about the toilet paper was cute. I rarely break out
laughing out loud, but that joke caught me by surprise and I
couldn't help it.

Its odd, that theres so much history and tradition that folks
can't have fun with this one... I don't think it was done in
a.. negative way.

Maybe the complains are just a brief blip and will fade just as
quickly as they popped up. There is no shortage of parodies of
the Queen over the years. There is even a famous rubber puppets
designed with caricature-style heads that mocked many stars,
politicians including the Queen too. Some of the jokes were more
scandalous and risque than the deepfake one.

Good observations, yes I too was impressed by it and think the timeliness of the message was on point as well.
