Yows all,
I finished setting up an private WoW - Wrath of the Lich King server yesterday. The docker are based on the TrinityCore package which is to this day still being actively maintained. Each pushed update rebuilds the container.
It has been an long wish to have my own WoW server to play with family and friends. The character data is backed up daily. It could even be exported in case someone wants to transfer or wants to set up their own server.
It is definately unwanted to make it open to the public-- but the BBS scene is very welcome. I will keep running the server until the end of times :P.
Would any of you be interested in an account? If so let me know and I'll create an account and send you an link to an preconfigured WoW client.
L8er,
oP!

Just curious. Where are you pirate servermasters sourcing your server software
from in order to run pirate servers?

I am genuinely curious.
Are you running any Mods to make it less of a grind? :-)

I don't know about now days, but back in the day it was on sourceforge. I'm sure a google search will turn it up.
It used to be called Mangos, before trinity core forked off. The server software isn't like someone stole it from blizzard, it's reverse engineered and opensource. They're often called emulators.
Whether or not you call it "pirate" I don't know. Given that a) the
server software is compleley built from scratch, and b) we've paid for
the game.. infact the only thing that might be pirate is the database of quests, objects and so on (which was all recreated).

I have a server running Docker and all my projects are seperate docker containers if that is what you mean. It makes it all a breeze to set up.

That said I don't think having bought the client software gives you
many moral
rights to run the server software :-P

That is VERY cool, private WoW servers... man, if one had enough friends/p involved that could be a REALLY cool project. I dig it...
Kudos, opicron!
Thanks, I just host the TrinityCore docker ;). The community who spend years getting Mangos and TrinityCore up to this point-- that is impressive.
I am now working to get NPC bots working so we can do an raid with two people only :P. Letting 10 other bots do healing etc.
Couldn't you also edit the Enemies to be easier to kill? Take them from l billion hitpoints to only 1 billion? How are the dungeon encounters defin re they scripts or something? I'm facinated by the backend, how they writ quests and stuff. I assume it's in some sort of scripting language....

Yeah, it should be possible but I want to keep the WoTLK defaults. It has to be some challenge to finish an instance. Else no sense of accomplishment.
After all the hours I spent in the Core, it would be very thereputic for m and my Hunter to one-shot Golemagg. :-)
