    Wow..

It's been quiet today. I know most of you post when I'm asleep, but
there's usually some activity during the day... I thought maybe I'd
broken my tosser.. but the data posts are still coming through.

We have had cyber monday deals today, I have no idea what cyber monday is
but apparently it's a good excuse for a sale. Also black friday? eh?

Been looking on ebay at calendars. There's just not many interesting
calendars anymore, or maybe just not on ebay. All the good ones are old
ones people are selling.. not 2021

Last year I got a 2020 calendar that had a picture my nephew drew on it.
Was hoping there might be one this year, but he's at a different school
as my sister & brother in law moved to melbourne this year for work.

Also installing linux from scratch (AGAIN) lol fun fun.

    Well, have fun

    Andrew

We always get one from Pet Value for a donation. Cute animal pics, can't
    go wrong. :)

I am getting my calendar from a local donkey shelter. I get a calendar full of cute donkey pics and I help the donkeys. It is the perfect master plan.

You may have noticed I have a liking for everything equine.

I think it's one of those things of the gee-whiz early internet.

Because people were assumed to have had terrible internet connections at
home, instead they did their shopping at work. Since they probably had Friday off, Cyber Monday it was.

I do wonder how true it is, now.

That said, I live in Germany, where they not only celebrate Black Friday,
they turned it into Black Week, and the new-to-me-this year, "Black Days".

It feels like China's Singles' Day, where it's just completely made up, but enough people participate that somehow it's now real.

Oh goodness; that sure is a specific type of 'fun', that one.

Its above my knowledge level - but I thought about dedicating some Pi to it and just... thats what that Pi *is*, cause I don't know that I'd ever get the entire thing done. :P

Weird that it was slow today but... I'm here now, so I'm sure it'll start to pick up! Lol.

I suppose I should go back to referring to it as the "INTERnet" due to how I assumed networks should be capitalized.

Also, I have no idea what a Mattel data glove is, but I assume it was
terrible even in its time. Like anything Tiger made (even if the Game.com was not completely repulsive for some games.).

I'd learned that the Internet was the entity as a whole, whereas an
internet was a specific network of interconnected systems. Now, the
former seems to be the popular term.

Also, I have no idea what a Mattel data glove is, but I assume it was terrible even in its time.

It was a VR glove ahead of its time, and from what I heard, the
    hardware was decent.

Yea, but they only ever released one game DESIGNED for it... using it with standard NES games kinda sucked...

I agree with you, the hardware was decent... but they needed to allow the developer in charge to create more than more game. They canned it after 14 months or so, and Mattel made $186million.

I think with more games designed for the power glove, it would have made a bigger impact. For sure.

Huh. Interesting. I hadn't heard of that (quite plausible) difference before.

I mostly find it interesting that people conflate "internet" and "the web"
    all the time.

But, maybe, linguistically, the difference isn't there anymore.

And it's not like I really know what to call things like Netflix, where it's using UDP to send stuff (I assume, anyway), but it's still a website.

It was a VR glove ahead of its time, and from what I heard, the
    hardware was decent.

Huh, also interesting. I would not have expected "decent".

I _was_ kind of surprised at how pleasant using a Virtual Boy was. I think I only enjoyed playing Mario Tennis, and it wasn't really _that_ good of a
game, but it worked pretty well, was 3D, etc.

Though on that note, I've just started playing with an Oculus, and it's
pretty neat in a variety of ways. Makes me motion sick super easily, but, eh,
    I always expect that.

Not that I've played a game on it, yet. But minigolf is coming.
