and seeing what they can do with lilttle lights. The result is
in the video linked. First year of using addressable LED's, so
have a hybrid Christmas Light display.
Very cool. What type of lighting are you using? In the past I have
used Z-Wave (and X-10 before that) to control my on/off but never
really played around it programmable lighting. Thought about
rigging up something with an ESP2866 setup to control but just
didn't have the time.
The leds have the ws2811 chip in them. The software is called "xlights",
and they are controlled from a raspberry pi4b+, running falcon pi player.
The pi has a "hat" with Hanson Eltronics RPI-28D+ connected to the GPIO
pins.

There are 532 leds in the tree, 36 in each snowflake, 60 in the arches,
and 300 in the strip on the roofline.
Planning started in April, with lites etc being purchased
the following months. Then construction started in July
every few weekends, and a mad rush during october to get it all tested
and working. Then the middle of November it was put together and the
final bugs and fixes done for a Dec 1 turn on.
I was only running basic effects, but even they looked so much better in
real life, verses what was on the computer screen.
Everyone that came to have a look thought it was fantastic, and great.
New Years Day it all starts comming down, and thinking about what to add
for the next christmas season will start.
