• MagiTerm 1.1.0

From apam@21:1/126 to All on Saturday, November 14, 2020 20:21:04
    Hi All

MagiTerm has been updated to 1.1.0, windows build only at this time.
Source is available to be compiled for linux, I'll get around to making packages some time.

This release removes the toolbox (that bitmap down the bottom with the
    flashing leds)

it also adds switchable screen modes. At present it defaults to 80x25,
but can also be changed to 132x36 or 132x52. I'm not sure what the trendy
modes are, but it's easy to add new ones, so if anyone wants a different
mode let me know and I'll add it.

This should probably be considered an experimental release. Lots of
    refactoring to make modes work...

    Get it here: http://members.iinet.net.au/~apamment/

I decided to give it a go and so far it works well. I'm having some small issues with SSH where it just refuses to connect. I haven't debugged a whole lot just yet and made sure libssh-dev was available. I'm running Arch
however, I may try to build it on another distro and see what it gives there.

Telnet works just fine however. I'll be using it as my main driver and
provide feedback if I see anything.

132x37 appears to be a popular mode, I guess adjusting 132x36 to this might
    do the trick.

Compiling was very straightforward, I'll let you know if I identify the issue with SSH.

    Cheers!

Fancy! Always neat when there's a new version. Thanks for continuing to
develop it, since it's still my normal terminal.

Looking great Apam! Works very well in 16:9 (132x36 I think is what you have as the option ..) my ANSI's I've created look nice and work well. Now if I can figure out how to change the font .. The standard is a bit grainy. But I'll play around with it more. Love it so far! I'll also keep using it as my main terminal and let ya know if I run into issues.

I was having trouble connecting to localhost on ssh on my computer, but
had assumed it was windows being weird. I use SSH to connect to my BBS
fine, also just tried to connect to agency and that also worked. So not
    sure what's happening there.

    Ok thanks.

I just updated the 1.1.0 package with the correct terminal size, thanks

Hey tG... I'm about to try an Underground 132x36 login. Anything one needs to know? Like I'm gonna set my term to 132x36 and I guess thats it. Then decide if I like that for everyday login or not, and... its just switch from 80x25 to 132x36 and thats it right?

Oh well, all my questions will just be answered by going and loggin in, Paul. Jeez.

At the moment you won't like it for every day login on just about any BBS but to see the login process and logoff, absolutely worth seeing.

switch from 80x25 to132x36 and thats it right?

Yup, you can switch back and forth, but only after login/off .. I keep mine at 80x25, unless I know a BBS is testing 132x36 to just check it out. At the moment still figuring out menus, which would make the entire thing work keeping at the high rez. But without starting a new theme, I am awaiting a reply from g00r00 or someone who has figured out how to auto detect then trigger a specific menu based on rez. Otherwise the menus only feel half the page. Thats whats wierd about using it full time. But I think you'll like what you see developing so it's worth checking out the progress as the feature is developed.

    Oh
well, all my questions will just be answered by going and loggin in, pa> Paul.Jeez. pa>

When you login, I guess you'll find out :)
