• Gopher updates

From Arelor@21:2/138 to All on Saturday, November 07, 2020 06:22:41
    Hi there.

I have been busy doing some gopher integration with [my website](http://www.richardfalken.com).
Feel free to check the [gopher site](gopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalken).

OK, the markdown there is an internal bad joke because I am sorta fed up of writing markdown :-(

I have just tested it. It works fine.

Which gopher client are you using?

Hey, that is cool. It also seems more responsive than the vert interface. I am taking notice and linking it too.

Huh... now the Vertrauen link is gone and Xibalba is there.

No matter. I was just clicking through the links to see where they
    would go.

I guess I'm not using a client on my Win7/Thunderbird pc. Your link
takes me to https://gopher.floodgap.com and your content loads from
    there.

I do however, have a gopher client/plugin on my T60/XP laptop, but
that machine is down for a while.

I looked at gopher briefly must be a couple of years back now. It looked like to much hard yakka at the time, and to hard to try migrate a lot of this stuff over. Combined with not being able to get any assist out of the guys that were trying to get me to make a transition, put it firmly in the to hard basket.

I guess I'm not sure what the transition would be? There is a niche group that does phlogging (Gopher blogging), and other such things, but I personally just add it to the array of things I use. For the board I make public network messages available for read only. And for myself, Gopher is a nice way to read the previously mentioned phlogs and what not.

I just have a set of scripts that "ports" my websites to Gopher. When I post something on my blogs, it gets transferred to my gopher sites automatically. I also have some goodies in my giophersites that are not available on the web, such as patches and software from some personal projects.
